Halloween Safety Tips

Spooky but Safe Halloween

A chill is in the air. Pumpkin spice abounds. Skeletal scenes are popping up around town. Children are looking forward to sweet treats while families and communities anticipate enjoyable parades of costumed children and creatively creepy decorating. During this festive time, families and communities can proactively take steps to ensure physical safety of haunting young ghouls and mischievous wee goblins.

Children are estimated to be at a two to three times greater risk of being hit by a car on Halloween compared with an ordinary day. Common safety tips involve ensuring children’s costumes are fashioned from light colored or reflective material and include large enough eye holes to ensure adequate visibility when crossing streets or anywhere near vehicles.

Drivers may also want to avoid driving on Halloween during trick-or-treat, if possible. Always remember that an adult should be supervising trick or treaters, especially younger children.

With these precautions and considerations in mind for encouraging happy memory – making this Halloween, we extend warm wishes for a wickedly safe and fun Halloween for all.
