Mental Wellness Month

Start the New Year by Ensuring Your Mental Wellness

Similar to its more well-known counterpart Mental Health Awareness Month in May, Mental Wellness Month is dedicated to bringing awareness to behavioral health disorders, breaking the stigma and encouraging individuals to get help.

Many people are affected in the aftermath of the holiday season, as the rush of holiday activity dies down and loneliness many set in. Others might have overspent on gifts and subsequently feel remorse. With January signifying a new beginning, here are some ways to ensure your mental wellness in the coming year.

  1. Volunteer—Helping others can help you to feel good about the imprint that you’re leaving on the world.
  2. Practice self-care—Take some time for me-time. Soak in a bubble bath, curl up with a good book or binge watch your favorite show. Make sure to indulge in an activity that makes your happy.
  3. Start a gratitude journal—Carve out time to chronicle things for which you are grateful. They can be small or large. Taking time to reflect on what’s good in your life will help to boost your mental wellness.
