Trauma-Informed Care Centers
Some Community Care providers are certified in trauma-informed care (TIC). Trauma-informed care helps people who have experienced trauma.
Trauma includes:
- Physical, emotional, or sexual abuse
- Neglect
- Domestic violence
- Violence in the community
- Accidents and disasters
Trauma-Informed Care Centers are for adults and children, in both mental health and substance use disorder treatment settings. The providers have to meet certain requirements to be a TIC Center, such as:
- Having trauma-specific treatment for people in care
- Promoting safety for both staff and people in care
- Making a trauma-informed culture
- Screening for traumatic stress
The goal of TIC Centers is to help you meet specific recovery and wellness goals.
