What is ADHD?

Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder - ADHD - is a common disorder seen in children. Adults can have ADHD, too, but symptoms normally begin in childhood. Many times, people notice signs of ADHD when a child goes to school and has trouble in the classroom or doing their schoolwork.

ADHD Symptoms:

  • Not being able to pay attention
  • Hyperactivity (moving around constantly)
  • Acting without thinking (impulsivity)

These symptoms can get in the way of how your child functions or develops. The first step to finding out if your child might have ADHD is to have a medical professional evaluate your child.
